Last week, at the Northeast Buildings & Facilities Management Show & Conference (NEBFM14), the spotlight was on energy efficiency. Although companies and organizations of all different sorts showed a wide variety of products and services for buildings and facilities, many participants, including Aetna Corp., focused on informing visitors of how they could better save money and energy.
Even the event’s well-attended educational conference covered topics such as LEED, “green,” and sustainability. Many sources we have cited in the past agree that one of the biggest building operating expenses is lighting. Luckily, energy-efficient lighting solutions present one of the easiest opportunities to save.
At Aetna Corp.’s booth, #544, we presented several products and solutions that can put this theory into practice. Our sales team emphasized the use of lighting controls (such as sensors), which, when paired with LED technologies, can decrease power demand. Less demand for energy not only equates to energy savings – it also results in an increase to the bottom line. That’s the meaning of efficiency.

We had Cree’s Area Edge mounted on an eight foot pole; when the fixture was on, it lit booth #544 right up. A member of our sales team remarked at one point that he’d have to bring sunglasses to next year’s event.
All of these products – boasting “high-efficiency” and “cost-effective” designs for projects including retrofits and spaces such as warehouses, garages, gymnasiums, and parking lots – are a part of Aetna Corp.’s commitment to increase the efficiency of every facility we service, to help our customers “go green” and save money at the same time.
