Measuring Your Latch Size: Measuring your latch is easy. Simply measure from the center of the hole of a current piece of door hardware to the edge of the door. This measurement should be either 2 3/4" or 2 3/8". ( Diagram courtesy Emtek. )
Figuring Lever Handing: If you are purchasing a lever handle, you will need either a left or right hand lever. To determine handing, look at the door, standing outside of the room. Whichever side of the door the hindges are on, is the hand of the lever.

Cleaning Your Hardware: It is very important to use the correct method to clean your hardware. If you use harsh cleansers or anything abrasive on your hardware, you could ruin the finish of the piece. Once the finish is broken, your hardware will tarnish irreversibly. Use only mild cleansers and soft cloths to wipe your hardware clean. At Aetna Builder's Hardware, we use only water or microfiber cleaning towels to clean our hardware. It does not take much cleaning to keep quality hardware looking beautiful.
